Good news, everyone

I’m sorry for the long silence but I haven’t wanted to post until I could tell you all that I’ve finally finished a draft of the second book in the Sweetness & Light series, which will be called Book of Love. Everything else seemed like a distraction or an excuse; until I finished the book, I decided, I’d keep my nose to the ground. Better to be silent than raise false hopes.

Well, the first draft is done. Publication is still months away and there’s a long process to go through before I get there—I’ve sent the book out to beta readers, there will be several rounds of edits, and I want to organize a solid publicity push for this one. But the manuscript exists, I’m pretty happy with it (happier than I am with most of my drafts), and it will definitely be out this year.

I’ll try to be more present from here on out, posting about the book and some of the issues that I ran into along the way. My goal is to bring you weekly updates from here until the final pub date. Plus any assorted thoughts, research tidbits, recent reading, that sort of thing.

For now, though, hello. I’m excited to have a finished manuscript, excited to make it better, excited to publish again and share it with my readers. I’m sorry it took so long! It took me a long time to figure out the hero, a long time to find my way to the heart of the historical plot, and there were some pitstops along the way where I just wasn’t writing enough.

More soon. Hope everyone is well and healthy; these are some crazy times we’re living through.
